Song we wrote about an 1861 Steamboat ride!
Facing financial troubles and fearing the outbreak of the Civil War in the U.S., then Maid of the Mist owner W.O. Buchanon sold the boat at auction. A Montreal firm agreed to buy it if the boat was delivered to Lake Ontario. After the most seasoned sailors refused to navigate the Whirlpool and Devil’s Hole Rapids, three miles of the world’s wildest waters, the Maid’s own captain, Joel B. Robinson, took the boat on a wild ride. The boat and crew were practically swallowed alive before arriving safely at Queenston.

500 gold”

Captain Robertson called out for all able bodied men
Everyone walked out that night
2 rookie sailors took the chance of a life
“Captain, Let’s get this thing steamin! "

I saw her yesterday smiling in a Rainbow!

With a short whistle, LeLawla took off downstream
Cheering could be heard from both sides
Right away the rookies were almost washed over
Hanging on for dear life—----
As the mighty Niagara Roared
The Captain said “come on men don’t let go!”
Hang on tight”
They made it to the Whirlpool
The captain grabbed the wheel again
Devils Hole Rapids.,,,, I see you now!
Captain Robertson held a steady course
Thru the center of the rapids
They came out the other side!
Lucky to be alive!
However,,,,,, the Captain was a changed man

What is it about the power of the Niagara River?
I’ve felt the power of the Falls
I saw a Rainbow made from the water of Jesus
LeLawala lives on!

What does he see now?
Looking out his Window
I wonder!!!!
